PARKS AND TRAILS
HUMBER BAY SHORES PARK
The Humber Bay Shores Waterfront Park is located along the waterfront, west of the Humber River, stretching along Marine Parade Drive to Park Lawn Road.
The wetlands reflect the wilder natural landscapes found in East Humber Bay Park and combine fish habitat features with a stormwater management area. A bridge provides public access for wildlife viewing and is a favourite spot for photographers. The park offers a separate system of walking and cycling trails, lookout areas, and closer contact with the water’s edge along a series of cobble beaches and naturalized backshore areas. This is also home to the Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat. This ecological restoration project provides critical habitat for a variety of native butterfly species through all of their life cycles.
The project also created a number of fish and wildlife habitat features. Three offshore islands with diverse features, including rocky shorelines, log tangles, and submerged and emergent aquatic vegetation, provide a quiet backwater area for fish.
Humber Bay Park West is a narrow park jutting out into the water of Lake Ontario in the City’s west end. It’s a lovely place to have a picnic, take a walk or let your dog play in the dog off-leash area. It’s also an excellent spot for bird watchers hoping to find exciting waterfowl and shorebirds. Along the shores of Humber Bay West, you’ll also spot a wide variety of ducks overwintering in Lake Ontario.
The park has a number of amenities, such as picnic tables, walking trails, bicycle paths, and small beach areas. The Humber Bay Park Boating Federation and historic lighthouse are located at Humber Bay West, along with a public boat launch ramps and moorings.
